Introduction

Have you always wanted to know more about those strange-looking birds called penguins? Visit these websites to learn about penguins from the largest to the smallest. You will discover some interesting and unusual facts about these birds.

 



1.     Penguin Club

This site has facts, pictures, and information about Save the Penguin Foundation. You can also learn to speak a penguin language and find out what your penguin name is.

2.     Penguins Around The World

Here is a website that has everything-a slideshow, pictures, a treasure hunt, lesson plans, and much more. It was developed by teachers and students at Loogootee West Elementary School in Indiana.

3.     The Penguin Image Gallery

There are some excellent close-up shots of penguins on this site. It is easy to distinguish the differences in the species using these pictures.

4.     National Geographic

Learn all about the Emperor penguin, the largest of the species. This site has an audio and a video file.

5.     Phillip Island Penguin Parade

Here is a site about Little Penguins who live on Phillip Island, in Victoria, Australia. Learn about the smallest species of penguins. Be sure to take the Virtual Museum Tour.

 6. Monterey Bay Aquarium

     Watch the live cam about Blackfooted penguins. It may take a while to load, but it is worth the 

      wait. Check the “cool” facts about penguins. There are links for ways to help penguins in

      peril.

7.  Penguins

     This is an excellent site for elementary students. There are many, many things to investigate.

     Clicking on highlighted words will bring up a picture that explains the meaning. Also, check

      out  the glossary, webquest, bibliography, and links.

 8. Enchanted Learning

     After you’ve learned all about penguins, print out some coloring sheets and a               

      worksheet.  Then take a quiz to test your knowledge on penguins.

      Watch webcams from the Montreal Biodome, Central Park Zoo, and the New England Aquarium.
