What does a thermometer measure?

     How hot or cold is something? You can find out by measuring the temperature on a thermometer. Temperature is measured in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit. With just a little practice, it's easy to read both.

1a. What does a thermometer measure?  Record your answer on Worksheet A.

1c. Extended Question.  Go to this website and read how to convert the temperature scales.  Then pick a temperature and convert it to a different scale.  Record your answer on Worksheet C.  

For example:  Degrees Fahrenheit  - 32 degrees Centigrade / by 9  x 5 = centigrade degrees

86 degrees Fahrenheit -32 = 54/9 = 6 x 5 = 30 degrees centigrade
