What does a ruler measure?

      How long is something?  To find out you could use a ruler which is shone in the picture on the left.  A ruler is a tool used to measure the length of an object.  You could use a ruler with inches or centimeters. Place the 0 at one end of your object.  Look where the other end of your object is on the ruler.  The line on the ruler that is closest to the end of your object is your object's length.
